Why this program matters.

Facial weakness can affect expression, speech, eating, drinking, eye protection, social confidence, and quality of life. Recovery needs differ by diagnosis, severity, timing, and stage.

This program is designed to improve access to understandable education, coordinated support, stage-appropriate rehabilitation resources, and collaborative research that centers functional needs.

  • Program information is educational and does not replace medical diagnosis, emergency care, or individualized treatment.
  • Clinical services must be delivered or supervised by appropriately licensed and qualified professionals.
  • Participation, exercise, referral, and research eligibility will be determined individually using applicable safety and ethical standards.
  • Human-subject research requires appropriate review, informed consent, privacy protection, and transparent communication of risks and limitations.
  • Resistance-based facial exercise is not appropriate for every diagnosis or recovery stage and must not be presented as universally suitable.

Program lead
Not yet appointed; seeking a qualified institutional and/or clinical lead with relevant facial neuromuscular expertise.
Launch date
Not scheduled. Launch depends on a qualified partner, confirmed leadership, funding, operational readiness, and any required review.
Location
Atlanta-based development with potential qualified clinical or institutional partner sites. No delivery site is confirmed.
Eligibility
Future eligibility may include people with appropriate facial neuromuscular rehabilitation needs following professional screening. Applications, referrals, and enrollment are not currently open.
Partner requirements
Qualified hospitals, rehabilitation providers, universities, or research organizations with relevant clinical expertise, referral pathways, safety protocols, data practices, and oversight.
Funding requirement
Qualified partner capacity and external support are required. A final program budget has not been approved.
Participation pathway
Institutions and qualified professionals may contact the Institute about partner development. Individual participation will be defined only after clinical, consent, safety, and referral processes are approved.
Intended outcomes
Advance evidence-informed facial neuromuscular rehabilitation, professional education, functional recovery measures, and responsible participant support.
